C&B Services was founded in 1984 by Mr C R Brunger. The company logo was drawn and designed by his 8 year old step daughter and nick named Chris & Barney Services - 'Chris' R Brunger and his Old English Sheep Dog, 'Barney' were the 'C' and the 'B' and so 'C&B Services' was born.

"I started with a Mini van and £50 in my pocket doing odd jobs plumbing. These were found from placing an advert in the local free sheet in about 1987. I was contacted by a company called Gesa Assistance with a proposal for me to carry out emergency call outs for them at very low and competitive prices - I agreed. I then contacted other insurance companies and gained approval on their contractors' list. I am now listed on a total of 72 Approved Contractors Insurance lists.

"After joining Anglian Water, I passed my Water Bylaws Exams, gaining my registration from Anglian Water. Then the recession began to bite and companies started to go down, but C&B Services rode above this by chopping our prices and taking on any job, large or small, any time of the day or night, 7 days a week. I was still a one man band at that point and kept up my commitment to 24/7 call out service. Not only did I carry out all the work and call outs, I was also doing all of my own books and office work, which often meant working nearly 24/7 myself!

"In 1990 I invested in my first new van, a VW Transporter from Autohause of Wellingborough and engaged the services of my accountant Cobley Desborough. To enhance the Drain Clearing side of C&B Services, I also invested further in a high pressure jetting unit which allowed me to also carry out CTV Surveys of drains.

"In 2001 C&B Services expanded, taking on 3 additional skilled, manual staff and a secretary. Now in 2004 we are operating 3 vans on the road and still working at very competitive prices and committed to customer satisfaction."
